Kernow Sat Missions

Kernow Sat 1 is a mission with the communities of Cornwall at its heart. The satellite is being designed, built, launched and tracked all in Cornwall, as well as having the data from it processed by school children throughout the county.

The aim of Kernow Sat Missions

To monitor the health of our coastal areas, providing bespoke data to community groups and academia. This data will help identify wave height, areas of sea pollution, and the best place to plant a kelp forest for carbon sequestration.

Partners include KISPE Space, University of Exeter, UK Space Agency, Virgin Orbit, and Lacuna Space.

Future Kernow Sat missions will identify other local issues and use satellite technology to continue to help make Cornwall a thriving, and more sustainable, place to live.
